Spotted snake-eel (Myrichthys tigrinus)

A spotted snake-eel Myrichthys tigrinus was observed dwelling looking for prey among the coral rubbles in Odo Beach, Okinawa, Japan. Despite its terrifying appearance resembling a sea snake, it is actually a harmless species.

The genus Myrichthys currently containing 12 recognized species found in tropical and warm temperate oceans worldwide.
